About Me

Welcome! My name is Amber and I am a 5th-grade teacher in beautiful Idaho. I graduated from Boise State University with a bachelors degree in elementary education, and an endorsement in literacy. Teaching is a second career for me, following years in the corporate world. About 6 years ago, life took a few twists and I found myself back in school in my thirties, earning my elementary education bachelor's degree. I student taught in 2nd as well as a 4/5 combo class and I knew upper elementary was where my heart was at. I am starting on my 3rd year teaching 5th grade and loving every minute of it.

Currently I am earning my master's degree in educational technology from Boise State University. My passion lies in this area as I feel that this is still a new frontier in education. It is an area that is constantly changing and requires educators to work hard to keep up so that we can prepare our students for their future. It's a ton of fun and engages students at such a high level when done in a meaningful and authentic way.

When I'm not engrossed in lesson plans or homework, I spend my time with my sweet husband, whom I met in high school, and our two beautiful teenage daughters. I love to get lost in books that take me too far off places, craft, or relax on the patio with my family. As a family, we love to go camping up in the mountains away from everything, watching movies together, and be entertained by our playful Goldendoodle, Gracie.

Being a teacher encompasses everything I love -- creativity, organization, COLOR, and making a difference in a child's life. Within the blog, I hope you will find inspiration for activities in your classroom, organizational tips, and support as a teacher.
